release CABIN FEVER OVERRIDES COUNTRY’S CRUNCH
Harrisburg, PA (2/22/09) – The 31st Annual Motorama
Indoor Races and Show returned to the Harrisburg Farm Show
Complex, Saturday February 21st, and Sunday February 22nd,
2009. The 2-day show saw a record setting attendance at
the 30 acre enclosed ground complex which featured Arenacross,
Tunerwar Import Car Show, Quarter Midget racing, Go-Kart
racing, Robot Conflict, Remote Control Competition, an Elite
Rod and Custom Show, a Spina Bifida Charity Auction,
and the Ms Motorama Pageant.
The Saturday only showing of the Tunerwar Import Car Show
brought wall-to-wall spectators to the Expo Hall as 220
modern vehicles were on display and in competition. A Free
Cycle Live Show, F4 Challenge Car Show, Bikini Contest,
Anti-Team Motorcycle Stunt Team, an appearance by BMX Master
and U.S. Trials Champion Mike Steidley, and a live concert
featuring Planeside and The Mercurial kept fans busy for
hours.
Although entries in the Arenacross were slightly down, the
number of spectators filing into the large arena provided
a packed house, filling the 7,000 seats and remaining standing
room. Nearly 400 bikes and four wheelers competed in the
Arenacross on Saturday night with a similar number the following
day. A total of nearly 800 bikes and four wheelers competed
at the 31st Annual Motorama Show. Clown favorite, Bobby
Cox, was back in the large area for the 2-day show as well,
bringing laughter to all with the many stunts and games
performed during the Motocross intermissions. The Quarter
Midget racing program increased their count to 200 midgets
as did the Go-Karts with 225 competitors in attendance.
The remote control competition grew in leaps and bounds
in 2009. From a record setting 250 entries in 2008 to an
astonishing 450 in 2009, Motorama Events was forced to create
two separate areas for the remote control competition. Electric
and rock climbing were added for the remote control cars.
The robot conflict saw 120 entries registered for action.
The stands were packed all weekend long as the battles intensified
down to the final competitors.
The Speedshow hosted wall-to-wall performance oriented vehicles,
sprint cars, late models, muscle cars, hot rods, and other
various types were on display. In addition to the 300 show
cars, there were over 70 various vendors set up in the Speedshow
along with a Jazz Me and Country Band, a Spina Bifida Charity
Auction, and the 2009 Ms Motorama Pageant. Jessica Jordan
from Boonsboro, MD was crowned Ms Motorama 2009 late Sunday
afternoon. Located across from the Speedshow, in the West
Hall, was the inaugural displaying of the Elite Rod and
Custom Show. This year the all new Rod and Custom show featured
some of today’s best customs that the northeast has
to offer, estimating at over $10 million in total.
The 17th Annual Motorama Indoor Races and Show (1995) introduced
the first ever Spina Bifida Charity Auction. Through the
years, the auction became larger as word spread about the
importance of Spina Bifida Prevention. The total amount
raised for the Spina Bifida Resource (formerly known as
the National Spina Bifida Association) has yet to be determined
for 2009.
Motorama Indoor Races and Show also saw the return of owner/promoter
Armin Hostetter. A two year absence due to an illness left
Armin with an itch to get back to the Farm Show Complex
to enjoy the show he created in the summer of 1977. With
what started as an Indoor Motorcycle Championship has grown
to almost ten entirely separate shows in one.
The dates are set for the 32nd Annual Motorama Indoor Races
and Show. Mark your calendars for February 20th and February
21st, 2010. Motorama Events will be back at the Harrisburg
Farm Show Complex, located at 2300 North Cameron Street,
Harrisburg PA 17110. For the latest information regarding
Motorama 2010 and for results for Motorama 2009, be sure
to check out our new website at www.motoramaevents.com.

WAIT. NOT MUCH CHANGING.
1/05/09 Race teams,
we are sad to announce we lost one of our own. Brent A.
Eckert 38, was taken by the angels on Saturday, Dec. 27,
2008.
A Celebration Of
Life Service will be held at 2PM Tuesday Jan. 6, 2009 at
Life Tributes By Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel and
Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. Pastor Steve
Schmuck will be officiating at the service. Viewings will
be from 6 to 8PM Monday and from 1 to 2PM Tuesday at the
funeral home. Burial will be in Windsor Cemetery.
Brent was
an avid stock car racer and won several features at Trail-Way
Speedway and was a member of the Starlite Ovals Racing Club.
Along with
his mother, Brent leaves four sons, Damien A. Eckert at
home, Dustin A. Eckert of South Mountain, Devin A. Eckert
at home, and Brandon T. Eckert of Dover; two brothers, Barry
L. Eckert, Jr. of Fayette and Brian L. Eckert of York; an
ex-wife Danielle Livingston Eckert of Glen Rock; a fiancee,
Susan Flaharty of Felton; and nieces and nephews.
In 1997, Brent
made a pledge to send all of his racing winnings to Shriners
Pediatric Specialty Center to show his appreciation for
his care. The family asks in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions
be made to Shriners Pediatric Specialty Center, 3229 Burnet
Ave., Cincinnati, OH, 45229; or Red Lion Bible Church, 105
Springvale Road, Red Lion, PA 17356.
Brent was a hard
and dedicated worker, he wanted people to see him not for
his appearance, but for who he was. Respect was all he wanted.
He was rough on the outside, but inside there beat a heart
of gold. He would have asked that no one walk away with
heads low and sad for him because he's gone, but to hold
heads high and be proud you knew him. Nothing more can hurt
him now.

12/22 HERE ARE SOME
PERSONAL THOUGHTS ABOUT CRATE MOTOR RACING BY THUNDER CAR
DRIVER DAN FURMAN: I know the big issue at the track now
adays is Crate or home built motors. I have personal pros
and cons about both. I have raced with both crate and home
built motors. Two seasons ago I partnered up with Ron Shultz
and we tested a Crate motor for Trail-way Speedway. We weren't
shore what to expect, but we were happy with the results
we ended with. We raced the Crate motor for three week's.
Our results were three heat wins, and ran up front in all
three features.
I started the 2008 season with two other drivers, (Allen
Collum and David Haught) all racing the new Crate motor.
It was a challenging and very informative year. I talked
to a lot of very helpful individuals like Craig Wagaman,
Joe Seymore, Bob Beard, Frankie Walls, and Ron Shultz (thank
you to all).Every one of these people had a hand in me getting
my setup dialed in with the new RMP rule package. Once I
got my setup I could run competitively and ended up winning
a couple of heat races and a feature win.
With a season on the Crate motor I feel Perry, Brad, and
Trail-way Speedway is headed in the right direction. I feel
in the long run the new RMP Crate motor and rule package
will save racers money. I also think this RMP package will
"bring racing back to the driver not the bankroll".
This will then make racing more entertaining for the fans
and fun for the drivers.
There will always be the motor debate, Crate or home built.
You have all out power or good competitive racing. Track’s
need racing not chasing the dollar. Thank you RMP for sponsoring
the series.
Thank you for your time;
Dan Furman #71
12/12 WE ARE
CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR A TECH CREW FOR 2009 FOR THE THUNDER
CARS AND 358 SPRINTS ON FRIDAY NIGHTS. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED
ABOUT THIS POSITION, PLEASE CALL THE OFFICE AT 717 359 4310
AND ASK FOR BRAD OR PERRY.
12/12 ATTENTION
THUNDER CAR TEAMS - GM JUST CALLED US AND SAID WITH ALL
THE BANKRUPTSY TALK DOES NOT CHANGE ANYTHING IN THE CRATE
MOTOR RACING PROGRAM. THE MOTORS ARE STILL PRICED AT $3,586.31.
THESE ENGINES ARE BRAND NEW, NOT REBUILT MOTORS. WE HAVE
TALKED TO SOME TEAMS IN THE SOUTH THAT HAVE RACED THESE
ENGINES FOR 4 AND 5 SEASONS.
12/05/08 THE
SCHEDULE ON THIS WEBSITE IS 99% FINISHED. WE ARE STILL LOOKING
FOR SPONSORS FOR 2009. GIVE PERRY A CALL IF INTERESTED.
12/05/08 ATTENTION
358 SPRINT TEAMS. YOU SHOULD RECEIVE A SURVEY FROM LINCOLN
AND/OR TRAIL-WAY. PLEASE FILL IT OUT ASAP AND MAIL IT BACK,
DO NOT CALL, TO THE TRACK YOU RECEIVE IT FROM. IF YOU DID
NOT RECEIVE ONE BY WEDNESDAY OF NEXT WEEK, CALL PERRY AT
THE OFFICE AND HE WILL MAIL YOU ONE. THE QUESTIONS WERE
COMBINED BY ALL 4 SPEEDWAYS INVOLVED. ONCE AGAIN WE ARE
GOING TO DO THE BEST WE CAN IN SAVING MONEY AND WHAT WE
FEEL IS BEST FOR THE CLASS. MOST OF THE SURVEY MAY NOT SEEM
TO BE GOING IN THAT DIRECTION, SO ANSWER THE QUESTIONS ACCORDING
TO THE CLASSES BEST INTEREST AND YOURS.
11/25/08 358
SPRINT TEAMS, THERE WAS A MEETING LAST SATURDAY
AT THE YORK COUNTY RACE CLUB HELD BY WILLIAMS GROVE SPEEDWAY.
TRACKS INVITED WERE LINCOLN, TRAIL-WAY, SELINSGROVE, AND
WILLIAMS GROVE. WE WERE NOT SURE WHAT WAS GOING TO BE TALKED
ABOUT UNTIL
THE MEETING WAS OVER. SO ANY TEAM WHO WAS NOT THERE SHOULD
NOT WORRY. ALL TRACKS DECIDED TO GATHER ALL THE QUESTIONS
THAT WERE ASKED AND SEND THEM OUT TO ALL DRIVERS FROM 2008.
LINCOLN SENT THERE'S OUT ALREADY WITH OURS TO FOLLOW. THERE
HAS BEEN NO CHANGES AS OF NOW. WE WILL DO WHAT WE THINK
IS IN THE BEST INTEREST OF OUR REGULAR FRIDAY NIGHT TEAMS,
BUT STILL LISTEN TO WHAT THE TRACKS HAVE TO OFFER. THE MAIN
THOUGHT OF THE DRIVERS THAT WERE THERE IS TO HAVE ALL OR
MOST RULES THE SAME.
11/25/08 ALL
RESERVED NUMBER FORMS, WHICH MUST BE RENEWED BY DECEMBER
31ST, CAN BE PRINTED OUT FROM THIS WEBSITE OR CALL THE SPEEDWAY
AND WE WILL HELP YOU. REMEMBER THE SCOREBOARD EXCEPTS ONLY
2 DIGITS AND NO LETTERS. THE PIT SPACES CAN BE RENEWED UP
UNTIL JANUARY 31ST.
11/25/08 EVERYONE
HAVE A NICE THANKSGIVING.
11/25/08 THE
SCHEDULE WILL APPEAR SOON, BUT REMEMBER IT WILL NOT BE OFFICIAL
UNTIL ANNOUNCED HERE. WE ARE CURRENTLY WORKING WITH TRACKS
TO AVOID CONFLICTING CLASSESAND DATES.
11/25/08 A
BRAND NEW LINE OF TW SWEATERS, MOTORAMA TICKETS AND GIFT
CERTIFICATES FOR BOTH ARE ON SALE FOR CHRISTMAS. JUST CALL
THE TRACK AND ASK FOR PERRY OR BRAD.
11/24/08 THE
TRACK HAS BEEN FINISHED FOR THE NEXT SEASON WITH CLAY, RE
BANKING, AND MORE WOOD CHIPS. STOP BY AND SEE, BUT STAY
OFF THE SPEEDWAY
11/11/08 The new Thunder
Car rules will appear within the next week and will be added
to as rules become complete. We hope everyone stays with
this change and those who don't, we thank you for your past
support. We will have testimonials from the Crate Motor teams
about their Crate experience.
The Thunder Car Class will
be called the RMP Thunder Cars. RMP is the sponsor of the
class for the next 5 years. In 2009 we are going with a
Crate Motor for this class, to help cut cost of the expensive
motors that are being used now. There will be some growing
pains, but we feel years down the road it will be a hit.TALK
